I became a mother for the first time at the age of 16. And here is my story
My name is Zoqou Terence, I was born to a family of 8 children. Parents living but divorced. Having stopped school in CM2, due to lack of financial means, I found myself very young in the street doing business with my brothers and sisters in order to provide for the
primary needs of our family, my mother not working, and my father having kicked us out, we had to find something to eat.
So we started working in the fields. So, one evening, while selling boiled corn, I met a man who was a scrap dealer, unfortunately from this union my first child was born. When the news was announced to the latter, the next day, he gave no more news, even at the workshop where he was employed, he had disappeared. As for my mother’s reaction, you know, she was facing such difficult trials so much that she no longer had any words, just silence. Despite my efforts to sell corn morning and evening, the finances were not sufficient to make prenatal visits like all pregnant women. With the help of my mother we raised funds for the layette, unfortunately the child died during childbirth on March 27, 2023. 3 months later I had a second pregnancy, luck turned in my favor because I met the Dr Gnipieven Tekombo Medical Center, I didn’t have enough money, they took care of me, did all my exams, and I had good prenatal care. I gave birth to a girl on March 27, 2024 in good condition. I thank the coordinator of this center who has a heart on his sleeve and the health staff. For me and for all young mothers, the ADO MATTER project is a great opportunity, a glimmer of hope, a savior that we are impatiently awaiting, my gaze and my hope are turned towards this project. I would have a chance to smile again, without pretending.
